No Child Goes Without in San Angelo

July 19th, 2011 at 3:37 pm

Too many children in Texas are going to bed hungry. In San Angelo many of the children who participate in the free and reduced lunch program at school go without meals on weekends and during the summer. Nearly one of every four San Angelo families with children have times when there is not enough money to buy food.

Will you join the San Angelo Boys and Girls Club in an effort to help provide nutritious food for children who may be going without meals? The Boys and Girls Club of San Angelo is partnering with Angel Food Ministries, which has launched a new program called “No Child Goes Without.” The San Angelo Boys and Girls Club has hosted a Back to School Community Bonanza for four years. All families with children who qualify for free and reduced meals during the school year are invited. Children are provided with new school clothes, socks and underwear. Representatives of about 35 organizations provide information about local health, wellness, nutrition and social services.

In 2010, the Back to School Bonanza provided clothes and information to nearly 300 families/600 children. This year, we’d like to help San Angelo’s most vulnerable children return to school physically and mentally ready to learn by encouraging donations to provide each family at the Back to School Bonanza with an Angel Food “No Child Goes Without” box of food. The event will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Northside Boys and Girls Club Unit, 1802 Lillie St., San Angelo, TX 76903-4547. For more information you may call (325) 655-8244.

Churches, businesses, corporations and caring citizens are encouraged and welcome to participate in the No Child Goes Without program in San Angelo by purchasing a box for a child for only $25. Donations are tax deductible. Participants may place their donation order online at or Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization.

Thanks for your support, your donation and prayers for this event. It is truly appreciated.
