The Baptist Church Loan Corporation, the nation’s largest Baptist owned and operated, non-profit church loan provider, now is offering its services to congregations in Mississippi, the third state where it is seeking to help churches grow as they share the gospel.
The Dallas based non-profit has provided low-interest loan programs to more than 3,000 Texas Baptist churches in the past 60 years. Last year, BCLC began offering the same loan opportunities to churches in Oklahoma.Recently, the BCLC Board of Directors voted to continue the BCLC expansion efforts by offering its loan programs to Baptist churches in Mississippi.
The BCLC was drawn to offer loans to Mississippi Baptists because of the state’s commitment to mission work. Mississippi congregations’ willingness to give through the Cooperative Program reflects a desire to grow by spreading the gospel.
“In terms of per capita giving to Baptist ministries, Mississippi Baptist churches are one of the strongest states in the country,” said BCLC President Gerald R. James, Jr. “Their heart for missions is the primary reason we want to serve Mississippi Baptist churches.”
In the past six decades, BCLC has provided more than $500 million in loan funds to Baptist churches. BCLC recently lowered the rates its offering on loan to as little as 3.25 percent, the lowest in the non-profit’s history. Churches of all sizes are eligible for such rates.
