Ethical Issues
The CLC provides resources on an array of ethical issues, including environmental justice, pornography, euthanasia, abortion, immigration, sexual ethics, HIV/AIDS, violence, war and peace, gambling, aging, health care, genetic research, advance directives, and organ donation.
Religious Liberty
Baptists have traditionally affirmed that religious liberty is best promoted and preserved when church and state remain separate in the manner prescribed by the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
Substance Abuse
Almost every family and church is impacted in some way by substance abuse. The BGCT’s Christian Life Commission addresses the issue of substance abuse primarily through prevention and education strategies.
Immigration Service and Aid Center
The Immigration Service and Aid Center project is a collaborative ministry between Baptist University of the Américas and the Baptist General Convention of Texas that focuses on equipping churches and other organizations to engage the immigrant community along a continuum of ministry options.
