Go Now Missions: Deep into the forest

News, how-to’s, videos and photos for you

During one of our many trips deep into the forest to bring back boards that one of the locals had cut from a tree, God began to convict me of my lack of understanding as well as lift me up and show me that he made me who I am for a reason!

Each morning, we would go over a Bible story so that we could share it with others through out the day. That morning, we had studied the “Parable of the Talents” in Matthew 25. Little did I realize that God had orchestrated that story for me personally that day. We studied that set of scripture on a morning when I was feeling rather homesick and thus, it was hard for me to really see what my talents were.

I’ve always considered myself a jack-of-all-trades, but a master of none and I’d never been content with that. It was frustrating knowing that I “excelled” at nothing. While carrying wood later that morning, God put this on my heart.

Why had I never been okay with this? Why was I never satisfied with what I had, but rather always wanting more? God began to show me how I am created is by His design. He reminded me of numerous occasions in my past where I was able to relate to others because I had just enough knowledge of a particular event or subject.

God has used me and the gifts he has given me and will continue to in the future! He reminded me that if I give anything that I have back to Him (since it was He who gave it to me in the first place), He will bless it!

It was a humbling reminder of how gracious and sovereign our Lord is.
