Everyone gets a little nervous when they sense God calling them to do something new. It’s perfectly normal to feel inadequate. Plenty of men and women in the Bible felt the same way.
Philippians 2:13 is a great passage that provides all we need to know to step forward with courage. Here it is in The Amplified Bible translation:
[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.
Wow! What do I take away from this Scripture?
- It’s not done in my strength,
- He works in me to provide energy, power and desire, and
- He helps me do things that please and delight Him.
One very important principle we need to remember is that God will equip and empower those whom He calls. So, if He is calling you, don’t be afraid to say ,“Yes,” to whatever you understand today about His call.
Consider memorizing this passage in this translation. It will provide focus for you when you are wavering.
