After leaving my work at Camp Chaparral last summer, I knew I wanted to return to work there again. I loved the atmosphere and the fulfillment of serving God there.
This year as a returning staffer I was so excited to start work and my expectations were set high. I was nervous at first because I learned that most of my friends that I worked with last year weren’t returning but God has definitely exceeded my expectations this year. So far I’ve gotten to celebrate with two kids that gave their hearts to Christ. One of them is the child of a good friend!I’ve made several new life long friends in my coworkers.
Working here has also taught me valuable lessons. Just like any workplace, problems arise and being here with great people has helped me deal with problems in a Christlike manner. That is something that will stay with me my whole life.
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned here is how to grow in serving God. Serving God is not about money because if it was, I wouldn’t be here. I’m serving Him here because I enjoy helping people in any way possible. I love seeing how God works in people’s lives.
One thing one of my bosses always tells us is that when he gets to heaven he wants to hear God say “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” I, too, want to hear these words when I meet my Creator because it will mean God used me to help glorify His kingdom which which is something we were made to do.
