This week, we have experienced multi-state and location tornados and storms resulting in various types damage. We have heard that these storms are compared to a large hurricane event. When an event is multi-faceted like this, we must wait, assess and seek the Lord’s guidance on when and where to mobilize volunteers. It is times like this when good relationships with other disaster response organizations are so important.
Chris Liebrum, director of Church Ministry Resources, spent the day yesterday with Charles Ray and Ray Higgins of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Arkansas. Currently, the largest needs appear to be in Vilonia, Arkansas. Here many pockets of rural homes were heavily damaged. Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery will partner with Baptist churches in Little Rock and surrounding areas.
Our main focus in responding to this week’s storms will be providing opportunities for Texas Baptists Churches to:
GO – by giving of your time GIVE – by supporting with funds PRAY – pray for those affected by these disasters.
This is just the beginning of our discovery of places where teams will be needed. To stay updated on where and when we will begin mobilizing teams click here to join our TBDR Volunteer Corps to begin receiving our Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery Newsletter.
