In conjunction with North Carolina Baptist Men, Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery is mobilizing volunteers to the Allenwood, New Jersey, and Long Island, New York, areas, which were battered by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. Volunteers continue to dispose of damaged items, as well as repair and rebuild homes damaged in the storm.

Dates: Determined by group

Who: Adults (18+); 1/5 ratio of skilled/unskilled workers is strongly encouraged
Youth Groups (14+); 1/5 ratio of adults/youth is required

  • Chaperones must be at least 21, must be of the same gender, and must stay in the same room as their youth.
  • A parent or legal guardian must sign a liability release form for each youth.
  • All adults (18+) travelling with youth groups must have passed a background check.

Cost: $15 per day, per person.

Housing: Dormitory-style, showers & meals provided (Monday breakfast – Saturday lunch).

What we will be doing: Clean up & construction.
