Sandy Rebuild: Student Blitz
The North American Mission Board has joined forces with Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery and several other Baptist entities to form Sandy Rebuild, a reconstruction initiative focused on rebuilding the communities damaged by Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. And this spring, college students are headed back to Staten Island to continue this work.
Dates: March 8 – April 20, 2013 (groups are welcome to come anytime between these dates)
Who: Adults, college age or older
Cost: $15 registration fee (includes accidental insurance, t-shirt, and Sandy Rebuild badge)
$15 per night fee (covers food, lodging), plus travel (flight, rental car, etc.)
Housing: Zion Lutheran Church, Staten Island, NY; Cots/Bunk Beds in Tents (bring own bedding)
Group Size: Housing capacity is 150 participants per night. All individuals must be registered at least 14 days prior to departing for New York
What we will be doing: Hanging sheetrock, replacing damaged woodwork, painting walls, installing cabinets, and more.
