Texas Baptists have been involved in support of seminary training for over one hundred years. Professional graduate degrees for ministry have been a standard for the theological education of ministers in the churches. A seminary or school of theology offers graduate level training that prepares the minister for a lifetime of vocational ministry.
The primary degree in the seminary curriculum is the Master of Divinity. Special concentrations and additional dual degree programs allow students to focus their training in education, music, theology, missions, social work, family ministry and other specialized areas of ministry.;
Two Texas Baptist universities have begun seminary programs in the past decade in the context of the larger university environment. These young schools each have a unique approach to theological education and ministry preparation. Experienced and creative theologians and practitioners have joined these faculties and are producing outstanding graduates who are ministering in Texas and around the world.
