TBM Disaster Relief
TBM has been involved in disaster relief in Texas and around the world since 1967 providing quick response and emergency support.
TBM trains volunteers and coordinates efforts in providing prompt assistance to disaster victims. TBM maintains a fully-equipped mobile disaster relief feeding units and coordinates with the regional State units to provide emergency food services. Disaster assistance is also provided by TBM:
- Mobile Clean-Out and Chain Saw units
- Temporary Emergency Child Care unit
- Shower and Laundry units
- Feeding Units
Recovery
Texas Baptists Disaster Recovery
Community Recovery
- Family Unit Assistant/Pastoral Assistance – assisting church member and pastros with DR funds – Marla Bearden
- Church2Church Partnerships – churches partnering together in times of disaster – Marla Bearden
- Prayer/Spiritual Support – praying for affected area and counseling and intervention through trained counselors and NOVA teams – Dan Franklin
- Community Development – Mobilizing Texas Baptist to assist in the recovery and long term development of the affected area/region. – Marla Bearden
- Long-Term Recovery/VOAD – Attend State VOAD meetings and Long Term Recovery Team meetings in Texas. Continue involvement in VOAD on a national level. – Marla Bearden and Dan Franklin
Texas Baptists Church Building Recovery
Experienced church architecture specialists will work with your leadership to address the critical needs that face a congregation that has experienced a natural disaster. These professionals can help you answer these important questions:
- Give the church representative an idea of the next few steps needed for building recovery.
- Do the damaged building(s) need to be altered for ministry purposes?
- Is the church going to get a sufficient insurance settlement?
- Discuss options for demolition, repair, and recovery.
