Day 4

What a special day it was when the angel pronounced to Mary that she, of all the women of the earth, had been chosen to give birth to the promised and long-awaited Savior of the world. Read more »

What is it that stops us in our tracks when the Angel Gabriel tells Mary about the son she’s about to conceive? When the angel tells her, “The Lord is with you,” she’s greatly troubled. Read more »

This event follows the miraculous intervention of the angel Gabriel in the sky and soil of Nazareth. God initiated the conception after elaborating a precise plan where Nazareth was the theatre! Read more »

The scriptures don’t tell us much about Joseph, Mary’s husband. Yet they do tell us a few things about his character.  In fact his actions testify to the fact that he was indeed a righteous man. The dream of every young girl would not be for Mary. She would not spend the night with her girl friends waiting for Joseph to bring her to the wedding celebration; a celebration she had grown up dreaming of when the day it would be hers. Read more »

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.  Read more »

Mary and Joseph journeyed from Bethlehem to Jerusalem shortly after Jesus’ birth for Mary’s purification ritual and to offer a sacrifice. Upon entering the temple area, they meet Simeon, a devout and Godly man who was eagerly waiting for the Messiah – let’s imagine the scene.  Read more »

Anna surely lived a very difficult life. She was widowed after 7 years of marriage. We might expect to read about a bitter, sad, whining old woman. But, we see a different character. We see a woman who, in spite of losing her husband and having no children, has retained her love for God. Read more »

Upon returning, all of us are familiar with the statement that is often spoken: “There’s no place like home”. Nazareth is the hometown of Jesus. Read more »

After the teaching of the parables, Jesus came back to Nazareth, where he was met by rejection from his own people. One might think that this happened only in Nazareth, while in other places His ministry was welcomed and accepted.  Read more »
