The Preschool and Children’s Minister’s Retreat is an opportunity for gathering with other ministers for the purpose of fellowship, networking, information and spiritual refreshment.

Ricky Chelette is the Executive Director of Living Hope Ministries and has been involved in local church ministry for more than thirty years, helping people who are sexually and relationally wounded. Speaking to thousands of teens and adults who struggle with sexual identity, Ricky brings vast experience and personal knowledge to this difficult subject. His logical, humorous and straight-forward approach makes sense of a very complex and often confusing issue. Ricky is an ordained Southern Baptist Minster and has served on church staffs in Louisiana and Texas and has been on staff at First Baptist Church, Arlington, Texas for over 18 years. He has spoken in churches throughout the US, Europe and Australia. He has also spoken at University and Seminary campuses throughout the south. Through his teaching you will gain a deeper understanding of why people struggle with their sexual identity and parents will gain insight in creating healthy gender formation in their children. He has a BA in Political Science/Pre-Law, and a Master in Religious Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married for 26 years to Merlinda Allen Chelette and they live in Arlington, Texas.

Jennifer Bashaw, PH.D.
Jennifer Bashaw studied at Baylor University for her bachelor’s degree and earned her Masters of Divinity at George W. Truett Theological Seminary. Although raised in Texas Baptist churches, she and her family spent several years in Pasadena, California while she completed her Ph. D. in New Testament at Fuller Theological Seminary. Jennifer has a great passion for interpreting and teaching the Bible and has served in church ministry for the last sixteen years, as children’s minister, youth minister, and associate pastor. She currently holds the position of Assistant Professor of Religion at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. She is married to Kerry Bashaw and has three young sons, Noah, Riley, and Isaac.
