Meet the Team

Dr. Frugé serves as the Director of the Center for Cultural Engagement and the Director of the Christian Life Commission. She holds both an M-Div. and Ph.D. Her doctorate focused on the image of God, which she believes is foundational for a holistic understanding of advocacy and human dignity and worth. Since joining the CLC, she has worked to help highlight various issues surrounding cyclical poverty including food insecurity, education disparities, racial reconciliation, and access to healthcare. She is also a stomach cancer survivor, special needs parent, broadway enthusiast, coffee drinker, and busy mom to three young daughters.

Dr. Gallegos serves as the Director for Hunger & Care Ministries for the CLC. After graduating from Dallas Baptist University with a B.S. in Biology, she earned a Masters in Public Health and a Ph.D. in Health Studies. Her dissertation research focused on vicarious resilience among trauma workers, which contributes to her passion for investing in ministry leaders and volunteers in humanitarian and development aid. She contributes a unique blend of community health practice, finance and accounting, and ministry experiences. She values family time, conversations over a cup (or two) of coffee, and book reading time.

John serves as the Director for Public Policy at the Christian Life Commission and General Counsel for Texas Baptists. After receiving a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Texas in 2008, he earned his J.D. from Baylor Law School in 2011. He has represented Texas churches of all denominations in court and a variety of legal matters. In his work with the CLC, John speaks with elected legislators regarding the public policy priorities of Texas Baptists. He also speaks with Texas Baptists across the state to help educate them about current legislative issues and to encourage them to get involved and advocate on matters that affect their communities.

Dr. Sanchez serves as the Director of Ethics & Justice at the CLC. After getting a BA at Howard-Payne University in ESL, he earned a Master of Arts in Biblical Studies with a Missions minor. His Master’s thesis was entitled: "Paul's Instructions to the Corinthians Concerning Idol Meat: Principles for Decision Making in Grey Areas." He also holds a Ph.D in New Testament Studies.

Dr. Sanchez has over 20 years of ministry experience, including 11 years as the Youth Pastor at Chinese Baptist Church of Fort Worth. In addition to his roles in ministry, he has taught college and seminary courses in Biblical Greek, New Testament Introduction, and ESL. His teaching style is creative and engaging, and often incorporates the use of a ukulele.

Rebecca Trevino serves as the Center Specialist for the Center for Cultural Engagement. She holds a BA from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Political Science. Rebecca has been with the Christian Life Commission since 2018, overseeing administrative functions and connecting with ministry partners. In addition to her current role, she is a graduate student pursuing a master's in Community and Economic Development.

Shantell Welch serves as the Ministry Assistant for the Christian Life Commission. She has an extensive background in both ministry and administrative services. Shantell also holds a degree in Theology.

Shantell has a heart to love and serve God’s people. She leads a ministry called - Amazing Grace - from Lost Ladies to Saved Sistas; that desires to reach young ladies that are lost/feel forgotten, and share with them the love of Christ. She is a proud mom of four amazing children, and a loving MiMi to her four grandchildren. Shantell also enjoys reading, traveling, and relaxing in an atmosphere of tranquility.
