In the state of Texas, statistics tell us that 45% of people do not have a connection to any faith group. We must get to the point where believers begin to look at themselves as missionaries in a new world.
The Texas Baptist Missionary program facilitates this in the following ways.
Texas Baptists missionaries are either volunteers or people who raise support for missions efforts. These missionaries are commissioned by the Baptist General Convention of Texas after a proper background check and screening. Missionaries will commit to at least 15 hours per week working with a variety of missions organizations but the priority for their recruitment and placement will be with Texas Baptist churches. We provide missionaries with the ability to accept online gifts without assessing any fees. Additionally, we will provide resources that will be helpful in raising support.
Church Based Mission Sending
As Baptists we have a number of traditional ways of funding International missions. We cherish those. In today's rapidly changing world many churches are seeking new ways to continue to touch the world for Christ. The Church Based Mission Sending fund helps these churches by providing the unlimited ability to raise funds through us to reach the world for Christ. Learn more...
All believers are called to be on mission for God. The community missionary program recognizes that with the opportunity to receive both training and a certificate of commissioning from your church provided by Texas Baptists. This commissioning and recognition is done by the church not the convention. The convention will inquire for updates so we can let the Texas Baptist family know what is happening. To schedule community missionary training or a missions experience that can lead to the training please contact Ryan Jespersen.
