Texas Baptists are concerned about higher education in a Christian atmosphere.

A dramatic expression of this concern is the Mary Hill Davis Ethnic/Minority Scholarship Program which provides grants to help worthy, capable young people from ethnic/minority cultures receive a Christian education.

The scholarships are funded through the Mary Hill Davis Offering for Texas Missions sponsored annually by Woman’s Missionary Union of Texas. The purpose of the Mary Hill Davis Scholarship program is to provide support and encouragement to Texas Baptist ethnic/minority students who will serve as future lay and vocational ministry leaders in Texas Baptist ethnic/minority churches. The scholarship program is designed to assist students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree at either of the following Texas Baptist Universities:

  • Baptist University of The America’s
  • Baylor University
  • Dallas Baptist University
  • East Texas Baptist University
  • Hardin Simmons University
  • Houston Christian University
  • Howard Payne University
  • Stark College and Seminary
  • University of Mary Hardin Baylor
  • Wayland Baptist University

As a result of this ministry to well deserving people, Isaiah’s admonition “Learn to do well,” has come to stand for more effective service in Christ’s name.
