What can be done to address the discipleship deficit in the evangelical church in America? Perhaps a renewed focus on what it means to be a disciple is in need. BaptistWay Press is speaking into this challenge by releasing a new Bible study this spring, 14 Habits of Highly Effective Disciples.
This study will address habits that should be a regular part of the life of a disciple of Jesus Christ. Habits to be studied include: Bible study, confession, faith, fasting, fellowship, love, obedience, prayer, purity, service, stewardship, thankfulness, witnessing, and worship. The emphasis of each study is to move from the Scriptural foundation for the habit to its practical application in the life of a disciple.
This study of 14 Habits of Highly Effective Disciples can be used as a spiritual check-up, offering readers the opportunity to evaluate their spiritual growth and commitment. It can also serve as motivation towards increased faithfulness in their service and witness.
Authors for this study include Texas Baptist pastors Dennis R. Wiles, pastor of First Baptist Church in Arlington; Ellis Orozco, pastor of First Baptist Church in Richardson; Byron Stevenson, senior pastor of The Fort Bend Church in Sugar Land; as well as Dr. Elijah Brown from East Texas Baptist University and Dr. Todd Still from Truett Seminary.
The study releases in May.
