The Texas Baptists Hispanic Evangelism team is gearing up for a busy but invigorating year, complete with evangelism training opportunities for Latino churches around the state.
Both students and adults will have opportunities to gain valuable evangelism training through regional Renovación Hispanic Evangelism Conferences and through Congreso, a youth evangelism conference. Joshua del Risco, evangelism lead for the Texas Baptists Great Commission Team, said he is excited for what is in store for each upcoming event.
"This year's conferences will serve as a call to our hispanic congregations to prayer for revival and greater intentionality in our personal and corporate evangelism," del Risco said.
Renovación Hispanic Evangelism Conferences
Renovación Hispanic Evangelism Conferences are geared toward Hispanic pastors and leaders with the objectives of providing inspiration, information and implementation of evangelism principles and strategies that will transform the evangelistic DNA of the local church.
This year's theme is "Avivando El Fuego Evangelistico" or "Fanning the evangelism fire." Guests will engage in large groups sessions, small group workshops, revival services and a concert—all in Spanish and designed to encourage attendees to focus on personal renewal and revitalization.
"The Renovación Hispanic Evangelism Conferences have been designed for our pastors and leaders," del Risco explained. "Participants can expect to be challenged, inspired and equipped to fulfill the primary task of the local church--the Great Commission."
New to the agenda is an English-speaking track for students and their leaders called "Congreso Experience Rally" complete with a keynote speaker and concert. Students will experience a sample of Congreso 2016, which will take place in April.
Dates and locations are as follows:
February 19-21 Life Church de San Antonio
April 8-9 Green Acres Baptist Church, Tyler
April 15-17 Templo Bautista, Lubbock
October 28-30 Crosspoint Church, Bellaire

Congreso is an annual conference designed for students in middle school, high school and college. The conference objective is to reach students with the Gospel, investing in their lives spiritually, educationally and vocationally.
Last year, the English-speaking conference hosted 3,000 youth, and conference leaders anticipate the crowd to more than double this year.
"This year's Congreso is going to be 'off the chain!'" del Risco said. "For starters, participants will be able to enjoy the first-ever 'Congreso Festival,' which will take place outside the Ferrell Center on Friday afternoon, April 22. Congreso's goal of mobilizing 10,000 students will take a major step forward as we seek to minister to the city of Waco on Saturday afternoon, April 23. Finally, participants will be able to extend the blessing by staying through Sunday, April 24, when we will conclude with a special worship experience."
This year's lineup includes concert artists Danny Gokey, KB and Propaganda; keynote speakers Daniel Sanabra and Mike Satterfield; and more.
Congreso will take place April 22-24 at the Ferrell Center at Baylor University in Waco. To learn more about Congreso, visit txcongreso.org.
