Steve has been Global Small Groups Pastor at Saddleback Church since 1998. He oversees the strategic launch and development of over 7,000 adult small groups on 17 campuses (Domestic and International). He has authored Small Groups With Purpose, which has been translated into ten languages to date, and Leading Small Groups With Purpose. He frequently speaks at conferences and consults with church leaders both in the United States and around the world.
He has a driving passion to see each church attendee connected to a qualified shepherd and become an integral part of their church body, living purposefully for Christ.He earned a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1985, and a B.A. in Biblical Studies, with minors in Greek and Philosophy in 1982, from Evangel University. Steve and Lisa have been married since 1989 and have two children, Erika and Ethan.
As Director of Sunday School, David Francis is the leader for this program ministry for Southern Baptists nationally. Prior to his current LifeWay assignment, Francis served as Associate Director of the Church Leadership Group, then Director of Regional Operations. Before joining LifeWay in 1997, Francis was Associate Pastor and Minister of Education at First Baptist Church, Garland, Texas, where he served 13 years. While attending Southwestern Seminary (Master of Arts in Religious Education, 1983), he served Kiestwood Baptist Church in Dallas for two years as Minister of Education and Administration.
Called to vocational ministry and ordained as a deacon while serving in the United States Air Force (1972-77), Francis is a graduate of Baylor University (B.A., Business Administration and Religion, 1980). David and wife Vickie have been married 40 years, and have three sons and five grandchildren. They attend First Baptist Church Hendersonville, TN where they teach a Pre-K class and attend a new adult class.
