Make Your Groups Matter
Church staff leaders with responsibilities for Bible study, discipleship and executive leadership will gain valuable ministry insight and encouragement/connection with colleagues from across the state. Every year this event gets high marks for networking as well as personal and professional development.
Rick has one passion, to see “a biblical small group within walking distance of every person on the planet making disciples that make disciples.” He is presently pursuing this passion as the Small Group and Discipleship Specialist at LifeWay Church Resources. Rick has authored or co-authored multiple books, studies, and leader training resources including

Rick’s varied ministry experiences as an collegiate minister, small group pastor, teaching pastor, elder, full-time trainer and church consultant, as well as having been a successful church planter gives him a perspective of church life that is all-encompassing and multi-dimensional. Rick is a highly sought after communicator and trainer.
As Director of Sunday School, David Francis is the leader for this program ministry for Southern Baptists nationally. Prior to his current LifeWay assignment, Francis served as Associate Director of the Church Leadership Group, then Director of Regional Operations. Before joining LifeWay in 1997, Francis was Associate Pastor and Minister of Education at First Baptist Church, Garland, Texas, where he served 13 years. While attending Southwestern Seminary (Master of Arts in Religious Education, 1983), he served Kiestwood Baptist Church in Dallas for two years as Minister of Education and Administration.
Called to vocational ministry and ordained as a deacon while serving in the United States Air Force (1972-77), Francis is a graduate of Baylor University (B.A., Business Administration and Religion, 1980). David and wife Vickie have been married 40 years, and have three sons and five grandchildren. They attend First Baptist Church Hendersonville, TN where they teach a Pre-K class and attend a new adult class.
