The committee is pleased to announce that a recommendation and candidate for the position of Executive Director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas will be presented at the next Executive Board meeting.

1,900 messengers and visitors gathered in McAllen July 16-18 to take part in Texas Baptists’ Family Gathering, the 138th Annual Meeting of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

During an executive session of the BGCT Executive Board two congregations affiliated with the BGCT were deemed to be outside of harmonious cooperation with the churches of the Convention due to their public affirmation of same-sex sexuality.

Combee, who has vast experience in chaplaincy and chaplaincy ministries, will oversee the endorsement, training and support of chaplains.
