Bouncers arrived today in Kingwood, TX! Kingwood First Baptist Church, where students will be housed this week, has been participating in Bounce disaster recovery work for several years, but when Hurricane Harvey hit, several of their church members' homes where affected. While members of Kingwood First Baptist Church experienced damage and flooding to their own homes, they were quick to respond to the needs of those in their community. The youth from Kingwood First Baptist Church used the skills that they had learned from doing disaster recovery work through Bounce to respond to the needs of those in their community. Many of them know the immense personal loss that comes from the aftermath of a storm like Hurricane Harvey, and so they are overjoyed that they can serve others in the Kingwood community in this way. The Kingwood students are filled with enthusiasm and are prepared to go out this week and build up homeowners through the work that they will be doing.
This week we have 195 students from 8 different churches including Brazos Meadows Baptist Church, Crossroads Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Canton, First Baptist Church Navasota, Fellowship of San Antonio, Greens Creek Baptist Church, Rice Temple Baptist Church, and Kingwood First Baptist Church. Brian Pearce is the Mission Coordinator this week, and he also serves as the youth pastor of Kingwood First Baptist Church. Carlos Francis is the Worship Speaker for the week, and his youth group
served in the Spring Break Bounce Mission earlier this year. Carlos opened up the week with Acts 1:1-8, and he encouraged students to unleash the power of the Holy Spirit that is inside them, that is the power of the triune God, that has existed from eternity, who has been helping man since the beginning of the earth, and who is their Helper and Comforter. Carlos challenged students to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work through them as they go out to their work sites this week so that they can "save homes and save souls."
Carlos encouraged students to be witnesses to those they may encounter on their work sites this week simply by testifying to what they know about Christ and what he has done in their lives. The Bounce Staff is excited to see how the Holy Spirit will work through these students here at Bounce this week. Our hope is that Christ would be reflected and glorified in all of the work they do.
