Bouncers arrived on Monday in Corpus Christi, TX for the final Bounce Mission of Summer 2018! Students and adult volunteers will be housed at First Baptist Church Corpus Christi. There are 250 students here representing eleven churches including Austin Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church in Illinois, Church at the Crossing, Easter Heights Baptist Church, First Baptist Church El Paso, First Baptist Church O’Donnell, Indian Creek Baptist Church, Northlake Baptist Church, South Oaks Baptist Church, and Southeast Baptist Church.
While students will be staying in Corpus Christi, they will be rebuilding houses in the Rockport area. The eye of Hurricane Harvey passed over Rockport, TX in August 2017 leaving behind a trail of destruction. While most communities suffered from flooding during Hurricane Harvey, Rockport received the brunt of Harvey’s severe winds, which reached speeds up to 130 mph. Eleven months later, there are residents in Rockport, TX who are still recovering and in need of assistance.
Though the Rockport area has experienced destruction in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the Lord is faithful to gather together these students and volunteers through Bounce to be his hands and feet, to help rebuild the Rockport community. While the students will be offering the Rockport community relief by rebuilding homes, students will also be going out with the word, that is the hope of salvation through Christ. It is our hope that people would experience salvation, whether that be homeowners, neighbors or students, through the work that is being done at Bounce this week.
