David Foster joins Pastoral Health Networks team as the director of Millennial/Gen Z Network

The Texas Baptists Center for Ministerial Health welcomed David Foster as the new director of the Millennial/Gen Z Network. Foster transitioned from his prior position as groups and connections pastor at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas. He assumed the position on March 24.

When considering the continuity of the Millennial/Gen Z Network, Foster said he felt “a push and pull from the Lord” that this was his next step in ministry.

“I love helping pastors. I love hanging out with pastors. I know how lonely pastoring can be, and I'm grateful to be able to hopefully provide a gathering space for [pastors] all over the state,” said Foster.

Prior to his time at Texas Baptists, Foster served as the youth pastor of First Baptist Church Stanford from 2011-2017. He began serving on staff at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in 2017, where he served as the young adult and discipleship pastor and, most recently, groups and connections pastor prior to taking this role.

Foster also previously served on the Texas Baptists Executive Board from 2023-2024 and pioneered The Pastor’s Common, a Texas Baptists ministry dedicated to providing opportunities for emerging ministry leaders to be resourced and find community, in 2019 alongside David Miranda, Jordan Villanueva and Abraham Quiñones.

He said that in leading the Millennial/Gen Z Network, he would like to continue to invest in and see Pastor’s Common events, such as preaching labs and retreats, continue to impact and bless pastors.

“I really believe in the vision of the Pastor’s Common and what we've been able to accomplish by having that space for pastors to have relevant conversations, relevant gatherings where [pastors] can get better at what they need to get better at [in ministry],” said Foster.

Foster earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion with a minor in History from Wayland Baptist University.

“I am looking forward to the journey ahead as we see God use [David] to foster a movement of health and vitality amongst thousands of Gen Z and Millennial leaders in ministry across the state of Texas and beyond,” said Kevin Abbott, Area 5 representative and director of Pastoral Health Networks at Texas Baptists. “I am confident that David is the one God has chosen to lead this movement.”

Foster said he wants to lead the Millennial/Gen Z Network with humility.

“With things that we have upcoming, whether that be retreats, preaching labs, cohorts that we start, we just want it to be seriously a place where [pastors and emerging ministry leaders] get better at what they're called to do.”
