Weekly Update

Telling the story all day long

Oct 03, 2024

“My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long—though I know not how to relate them all.” (Psalm 71:15 NIV)

This week, I’ve had the opportunity to preach at First Baptist Corpus Christi, attend our Church Starter’s retreat in Galveston and speak to young adults at First Baptist Edinburg. God is doing great things!

I want to share with you our latest Texas Baptists Life Monthly email newsletter. This edition, sent earlier this week, features a recap from our Executive Board meeting in Dallas, a story about Longbranch Community Baptist Church in Midlothian and the unique ways that church is implementing insights from our PAVE church revitalization strategy and an encouraging story about the West Texas A&M University Baptist Student Ministry’s “Welcome Week” activities up in Canyon.

In each of these settings, God’s righteous deeds and savings acts are evident. We are blessed to share the story of His Kingdom advancing across Texas and beyond.

Our monthly newsletter is just one way we share the story of what God is doing through the Texas Baptists family. In addition to my weekly update and our monthly newsletter, about a dozen other newsletters are sent each week from various Convention ministries. We also share stories across social media platforms (just search @TexasBaptists), through our quarterly Texas Baptists Life magazine, online at txb.org and through our mobile app, which you can download here. We strive to tell the story all day long.

While we may not be able to relate all the good that happens when we work together to live out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, we continue to try. My hope is that you can find at least one way to connect and that you celebrate with us the collaborative impact made possible by your prayer and support.

Finally, I can think of no better place to celebrate God’s goodness than at our 2024 Texas Baptists Annual Meeting taking place Nov. 10-12 in Waco. There, you can shake hands and hug necks, hear compelling ministry reports, watch inspiring video testimonies, read entries from our Book of Reports and the Annual Meeting edition of our magazine and witness God's movement as we serve together on mission with Him. I hope you will register today.

Thank you for what you make possible when you give through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program. From Corpus Christi to Canyon, Edinburg to Dallas/Ft. Worth, we are more together!
