Fernando Rojas is pastor of Azle Avenue Baptist Church. Get to know his background, call to ministry and how you can be praying below!
Q: When and how did God call you to be a pastor?
A: I have been a member of Azle Avenue for 25 years. I felt God’s calling a while back, so my wife and I started to prepare for the time when God would confirm the call. Nine years ago, I was called to be associate pastor alongside my father-in-law. When he told the leadership about his plans to retire, they asked me to become the lead pastor, and I have been the lead pastor for the last 4 and half years.
Q: What is one exciting thing God is doing in and through your church right now?
A: God is doing great things in our church as we prepare to relaunch our community outreach as well as taking advantage of new opportunities to serve. We’re also preparing for plans next year to start all-Spanish and all-English services, instead of a bilingual service, as we are currently ministering.
Q: How can people be praying for your church?
A: Pray for committed members who will serve God through our church with all their resources —time, talents and treasure — so we can fulfill God’s mission for our church to Glorify and Edify. Also pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare the hearts of our neighbors as we share the gospel with them. We want to glorify God as we serve Him and reconcile others to Him, and we want to edify others as we share the transformational power of the gospel with them so that their lives, their families and their legacies can be made new.
