Leonardo Diaz is pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Hitchcock. Get to know his background, call to ministry and how you can be praying below!
Q: When and how did God call you to be a pastor?
A: I have always sensed that God had a special calling for me in His ministry. In 1978 my family and I moved from Temple to Texas City and joined Primera Iglesia Bautista de Hitchcock. At Primera de Hitchcock, I served in different areas, but my joy was teaching the Spanish adults Bible Sunday school class. In 1997 our pastor, Enrique Villarreal, went to be with His Lord and I was asked to become the pastor.
Throughout these twenty-five years of ministry, God has continued to be faithful. We have gone through two hurricanes, Alicia in 1983 and Ike in 2008, which destroyed our building completely. God rebuilt our building through brothers and sisters of the BGCT and First Baptist Church of Paris, Texas.
Q: What is one exciting thing that God is doing in and through your church right now?
A: We are using Facebook Live to share the Word of God with many people. We are reaching more people now with God’s word because of the use of Facebook!
Q: How can people be praying for your church?
A: Please pray that God will continue to give us wisdom and vision on how to minister in our church and neighborhood.

The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
