Dr. Maurice McMillion is the pastor of Faith Baptist Church of Tyler. Get to know his background, passion for ministry and prayer for his church below!
Q: When and how did God call you to be a pastor?
A: I was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church of Gilmer, Texas, and my Pastor, the late Rev. W.W. Cotton, saw the pastoral call on my life even when I didn't see it. He sent me over to fill in at my first church, the Hughes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Hughes Spring, Texas, and after a few Sundays, I felt the call of God to the pastoral role. I have now been pastoring for 16 years and preaching the Gospel for 24 years. To God be the Glory!
Q: What is one exciting thing God is doing in and through your church right now?
A: Our outreach ministry is a ministry that is always exciting. My lovely wife Raynette McMillion serves as the director of that ministry. This ministry of our church identifies what we do as a church well. We help individuals, families, other ministries, mission projects, local organizations, etc. We just blessed a local nursing home here in Tyler, Texas, with Valentine Love Bags for its residents. It's things like this that we are excited about doing to the glory of God and His Kingdom.
Q: How can people pray for your church?
A: I want Texas Baptists to pray that God will bless us with our building and that God will continue to direct us in the path of unsaved people that we might be able to share the saving Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.
The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
