TXB Spotlight with Stacy Conner

by Texas Baptist Communications on October 19, 2021 in TXB Spotlight

Stacy Conner is the pastor of First Baptist Church, Muleshoe. Get to know his background and how you can be praying for his church during Pastor Appreciation Month.

Q: When and how did God call you to be a pastor?

A: I felt called to ministry in the sixth grade. It was a Saturday night, and I was studying a Sunday school lesson on David. The author mentioned God using a young and small David to defeat Goliath. There was a question of application as to "How God might be using you?" Over the years the people who know me, my education, and the churches I have served have affirmed God's call upon my life.

Q: What is something God is doing in and/or through your church right now?

A: First Baptist Church, Muleshoe is in the process of celebrating our 100th year. Actually, our Centennial was in 2020, but we postponed it due to pandemic protocols in the fall of 2020. This is a wonderful chance for us to recognize the people on whose shoulders we stand, and to realize the people following us will be standing on our shoulders. This moment has given us the opportunity to rethink our priorities and prepare for the future.

Q: How can people pray for your church?

A: Texas Baptists can be in prayer for our church as we continue to navigate a changing community and world. Rural Texas faces a number of new opportunities. We are changing in economy, demographics, population shifts, and of course, in cultural norms. Pray that our church, along with many others in our area, continue to be the presence of Christ in the Panhandle of West Texas.

Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.

The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
