Today was the first day of work for our BOUNCERS. The day began bright and early for breakfast at 6AM, then continued with GO TIME: a time of prayer and commissioning. Aaron Austin, our mission coordinator in Waco this week, encouraged the students and prayed before sending them out to their sites for the first time.
We have a total of twelve teams working on houses this week. The work they will be doing consists of scraping, painting, roofing, siding, and small construction work. The teams are churches from different cities and the students will get to know each other well over the course of the week. One of the things students are always excited for are the lunches provided by local churches, for which we are very grateful!
In the evenings, Aaron Austin is also our worship speaker. He is speaking about the Beatitudes from the book of Matthew and does a great job providing examples and engaging students. This evening, he spoke about those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. During worship we also heard about Go Now Missions, a sending agency of Texas Baptists that allows college students to go on mission trips all over the world. It is a great opportunity to see God move outside of one’s normal context and serve him by going to spread the gospel. Even though these students are not all old enough yet, having the knowledge now gives them the chance to pray about serving the Lord through missions in the future.
Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.
The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
