Ethan Hollis, Stephen F. Austin (SFA) State University graduate and active member of First Baptist Church (FBC) Nacogdoches, grew up with inconsistent attendance in church and little understanding of the gospel, but after a friend invited him to youth group, he became more engaged with both.  

Inspired by the students’ eagerness to engage, FBC Clarendon began holding a college-led Sunday morning once a semester, where the students get an opportunity to take ownership of their gifts and abilities in ministry, ranging from greeting to preaching.

Using the theme “What is God building?,” the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation (TBMF) celebrated the work of Baptist Student Ministries (BSM) around the state at its annual luncheon held Monday at Truett Seminary. The foundation also provided updates on its most recent project to construct a new BSM building at Baylor University.

“God burnt a passion in me that week… to serve people, to share the hope that I found in Christ, the joy I found in Christ with other people. And really the work that started in my heart like 20 something years ago during that mission trip, it’s never stopped,” - Eric Hunter, WTAMU BSM director

The Texas Baptist Missions Foundation announced Tuesday that the Mabee Foundation has awarded a $1.3 million Challenge Grant toward the construction of the new Baptist Student Ministry Center at Baylor University.

The Baptist Student Ministry has been reaching students on UTMB’s campus since the 1950s, and we continue to be a safe place for students to be supported, cared for and encouraged spiritually.

This month has been like Acts. We are praying for more not yet believers to come to know Jesus and praying for believers to grow in their faith through discipleship.

On June 11-13, approximately 500 current and former students of the Aggie Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) gathered together to celebrate the BSM’s 100th anniversary.
