Bobby Smith, longtime director of Chaplaincy Relations with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18. Smith faithfully served Texas Baptists for 25 years, including 20 years as director of Chaplaincy Relations.

“We figured the best way for us to equip our church to share the gospel was for us to get out and do it together.

“The Great Commission was given to the church, and yet we see throughout scripture that it starts at the home,”

“As soon as they step off the bus they’re asking about the next year,”

Since its inception, Chaplaincy Relations has endorsed 1,125 chaplains in eight distinct categories: military, correctional, lifestyle, public safety, healthcare, marketplace, crisis response and pastoral counseling.

“When we serve as the vital link between our predecessors and our progeny, we are honoring our mission to continue telling the story,”

“We are here to strengthen local churches, encourage local pastors and provide support to the communities in need,”

“We want to do more than just distribute food; we want to engage our community in a way that we see each other as neighbors,”

“The Lord taught me a lot about serving Him and worshiping Him and how that can look different in different places."

We have recent reports from some of these missionaries in Brazil of new churches starting and communities being reached for the Lord.
