More than 500 students and leaders learned to “make a wave” in the culture for Jesus while attending African American Ministries’ Wave Student Conference, a four-day event for 7th graders to college students held June 9-12 at Resurrection Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX.

The Texas Baptist Missions Foundation announced Tuesday that the Mabee Foundation has awarded a $1.3 million Challenge Grant toward the construction of the new Baptist Student Ministry Center at Baylor University.

The African American Fellowship Conference took place July 19-20 at Cornerstone Baptist Church of Killeen in Harker Heights, TX. The theme of the conference was “Legacy.”

After deciding that the church didn’t have answers to his many questions about spiritual matters and the soul, Daniel Nieto declared himself an atheist at age 15. 

Themes of unity over uniformity, a compelling kingdom focus and dutiful preparation for future opportunities marked the May meeting of the Texas Baptists Executive Board, which was held May 20-21 online and on the campus of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.

Executive director Julio Guarneri outlined a rousing vision for the convention’s future during his Monday evening address at the May meeting of the Texas Baptists Executive Board. 

While the state of Texas continues to be a mission field, it is also a mission base from which individuals are sent to go and make disciples. 

“My prayer is that it would be multiplied, that it would encourage generosity by others and that it would meet the needs of the people who need access to this clinic.”
