Is it possible we can become so focused on doctrinal purity and correctness and agreeing 100% with every jot and tittle of interpretation that we forget about our love relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; we forget about our love relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ; we forget about our passion for reaching the lost?

God wants those that know Christ to share with those that don’t know Christ without respect to their color or background.

In an afternoon workshop at the 2023 Texas Baptists Family Gathering in McAllen, McKissic shared a brief study on the church that revealed what made them so ideal.

The Texas Baptists Legacy Award honors individuals who have made a lasting impact on Texas Baptists. This year, we honored Dick Maples, retired pastor and former associate executive director, and Dorso Maciel, longtime pastor of Primera Iglesia in Laredo. 

During an executive session of the BGCT Executive Board two congregations affiliated with the BGCT were deemed to be outside of harmonious cooperation with the churches of the Convention due to their public affirmation of same-sex sexuality.
