Texas Baptists
Ambassador Program

The Texas Baptists Ambassador Program is a state-wide initiative enlisting volunteers to reach out to affiliated churches and nurture the Texas Baptists family spirit.

Ambassadors will be the voice and face of the convention and will connect with and love on the pastors, congregations, and staff at these churches.

They will draw the churches of the convention closer together by networking with pastors, area representatives, and directors of missions.

We are blessed to be able to welcome these ambassadors into the Texas Baptist family, and are looking forward to seeing what God can do!

Ambassadors serve in advisory roles to select churches around the state by doing the following:

  • Encourage the church staff and pastor
  • Enlighten with stories of the great work God is doing through Texas Baptists
  • Evangelize alongside the pastor and church in their various mission endeavors
  • Build a sense of friendship and connectivity with the church
  • Inspire togetherness and cooperation with the Texas Baptist family

Along the way, Ambassadors will gain access to Texas Baptists events, opportunities, news stories, social media graphics, and more - all to share with their churches and individual channels.

Bruce McCoy, D.Min. leads the Ambassador initiative. Before joining Texas Baptists, he served at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as Alumni Director, Planned Giving, and a few other duties (2011-2018). Before coming to Texas, Bruce was a senior pastor in St. Louis, Missouri for over 12 years where he also served as president of the Missouri Baptist Convention, and as a trustee for Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

In the '90s, he served as pastor of two churches in Florida. In one of those churches, he hosted a weekly senior adult gathering every Friday with over 900 in average attendance. In the '80s, he served as a Worship Pastor where both the church and music ministry - including a 200-voice choir - saw growth. In his younger years, he sang on multiple Christian Television programs including the SBC's ACTS Network. Bruce has guided several churches and ministries through crisis and transition. Although known as a peacemaker, he is an avid boxing enthusiast.
