DALLAS–In response to the devastating destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey, BOUNCE, the student disaster recovery ministry of Texas Baptists, has revised the 2018 schedule for spring break and summer mission trips to solely serve Harvey-affected areas along the Gulf Coast.
“We have revised our BOUNCE schedule to mobilize student youth groups to Harvey-affected areas for long-term recovery efforts,” said David Scott, director of BOUNCE. “Our BOUNCE Advisory Group agreed this is reason BOUNCE was created. We also had full support from our ministry partners in the cities of Birmingham, Waco, Fort Worth, Lubbock and Bartlesville where we were scheduled to be. They agreed we needed to take care of the Texas Gulf Coast.”
Two spring break mission trips are scheduled in Houston March 7-10 and March 11-14. Summer mission trip locations are awaiting exact Gulf Coast locations, however anticipated service regions will include Corpus Christi/Rockport, Houston and Beaumont. Trip dates are set for June 11-16, June 18-23, June 25-30, July 9-14 and July 16-21.
“This will be a massive recovery effort and we welcome youth groups from across the country to partner with us. It's going to be a great opportunity for students to restore hope, rebuild communities and reflect Christ,” said Scott.
BOUNCE offers pre-packed mission experiences for youth groups, allowing students and leaders to participate in challenging work and inspiring worship experiences. Established in 2014, BOUNCE student groups have previously served in Waco, West, Austin, Mineral Wells, San Marcos and Dallas, TX; Moore and Bartlesville, OK; and Baton Rouge and Jennings, LA.
