The Texas Baptists Connections Team welcomes Dr. Steve Dominy as the new Area 8 Representative for the Dallas area on Nov. 1.
“We are very excited that Dr. Dominy is joining our team,” said Director of Connections Dowell Loftis. “He deeply loves the Lord and His Church. Having been a pastor for many years himself, he understands the unique challenges and pressures our pastors face each and every day.”
Dominy received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from George W. Truett Theological Seminary.
He pastored churches in Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas for a combined 22 years, including 13 years at First Baptist Church of Gatesville. He most recently served as Senior Pastor at University Baptist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Dominy has also served as Chaplain of Oklahoma Baptist University's track and field team, President of the Board for Family Promises and on the Texas Baptists Executive Board, among countless other ministries.
“I have learned that God takes care of His people in all situations. Over the last 23 years, I’ve learned that God is taking care of us. I bring to this position a deep sense of God’s faithfulness to His people. I bring a deep sense of God’s grace, having experienced it in multiple ways through the years,” said Dominy.
He continued, “I love the local church. I believe it’s a place God works and the people through whom God works. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to work with churches in Texas to help them accomplish their mission, encouraging them and connecting them with ministries already established by the convention.”
Texas Baptists is a movement of God’s people to share Christ and show love by strengthening churches and ministers, engaging culture and connecting the nations to Jesus.
The ministry of the convention is made possible by giving through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program, Mary Hill Davis Offering® for Texas Missions, Texas Baptists Worldwide and Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. Thank you for your faithful and generous support.
