On the desert side of the Andes Mountains sits a city with more than 100,000 residents who have migrated in search of better jobs and living conditions or an escape from domestic terrorism. Still, Collique, Peru, offers harsh living conditions, including low annual rainfall and mountainous terrain.
Operación San Andrés, a Hunger Offering-supported ministry, serves this community by caring for its children. It provides nutritious meals and educational enrichment consistently to children enrolled in its programs.
On Nov. 27, the Hunger Offering is partnering with Operación San Andrés and the Texas Baptist Mission Foundation for #GivingTuesday 2018. On that day, every donation given to the Hunger Offering will go directly toward OSA.
The goal is to raise $10,000, and we want you involved! One hundred percent of donations will be used to feed children that might otherwise experience malnourishment.
On top of nutritious meals, these children are receiving education, hearing the gospel, and finding hope. A grandmother of a child enrolled in the OSA academic enrichment program wrote that it transformed her granddaughter’s life.
“After my granddaughter was abandoned by her mother, she didn’t even want to eat, and I always saw her crying,” she said. “But now she smiles and has better concentration in her school work. She eagerly anticipates arriving at OSA knowing that she will eat something delicious and that the OSA staff will care for her with love, just as she tells me.”
We want to assist OSA by providing the funds it needs to continue impacting the lives of these children and shaping their futures. That is why we are so excited to have this opportunity, and hope you are excited, too.
Over the next month, the Hunger Offering social media pages will post reminders and updates so you can stay in the know on #GivingTuesday. Both our Facebook and Twitter pages are @HungerOffering.
Spread the word. Share our posts. Mark your calendars. Let’s raise $10,000 to feed children in Peru together.
