Texas Baptists welcomes Daniel DeLeon as new Area 3 Representative

DALLAS -- Texas Baptists welcome Daniel DeLeon as the new Area 3 Representative of the Rio Grande Valley, from Del Rio to Brownsville, as of January 2.

“Living on the US-Mexico border gave me the opportunity at a very young age to get involved in ministry in exciting ways. My first experiences in ministry included times when I had to translate Bible stories from English into Spanish. God used my bilingual skills to overcome the language barrier, and it was then when I began to enjoy bringing people together, but most importantly connecting them with the message of Jesus,” said DeLeon.

Fluent in both English and Spanish, DeLeon holds a degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas in Reynosa, Mexico, and a Biblical Studies degree from the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg.

“We are so excited about Daniel DeLeon joining the Texas Baptists Family,” said Tim Watson, director, area representatives of Texas Baptists. “As a young pastor with extensive experience in the technology industry, higher education and the local church, Daniel will add value to a wide range of Texas Baptists constituents. Most importantly, he exemplifies through his lifestyle the Great Commandment and the Great Commission of our Savior Jesus Christ.”

DeLeon is currently the Director of Personnel at the Rio Grande Bible Institute and the Pastor of the Primera Iglesia Bautista in Santa Rosa. He just completed his duties as the Moderator of the Rio Grande Baptist Association.

DeLeon continued, “I am so excited about joining Texas Baptists because it brings me back to the beginnings of my ministry, connecting people. As the Area 3 Representative, I will be connecting pastors and leaders to resources and opportunities that will help them have solid ministries and advance the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ for the Glory of God.”

Area representatives assist churches whenever a need arises, such as training, during a pastorless period, or declining or plateaued churches.
